Thanks, chaps – explains why I couldn’t track down a matching picture. Obviously seen it elsewhere, but had forgotten the altitude record…

What’s that aircraft he’s climbing into? I’m sure I recognise that “canopy” (tin box with a window).
Is it one of the DH108s? (a subsequent google suggests not)

I think its the Ghost Vampire (TG278) in which Cunningham broke the altitude record

They were part of the large medal collection of the late Chris John.
NOTE: I have been informed that some of the collection belonged to Chris John, but not the Cunningham group apparently! I was misinformed or misunderstood!

So did I – I thought he’d lost quite a bit of cash in the Lloyds problem and sold them then to finance his retirement.
I was lucky enough to meet him a few times – remarkably pleasant, modest and unassuming man. Quite a hero of mine.

I thought they were sold years ago!
