I have decided that Hawker Hurricanes are like buses – you wait for hours for one to come along and suddenly two arrive together.
So I was at North Weald aerodrome yesterday and I thought… well… the weather’s good so I will photograph the airfield’s gate guardian which is a fibreglass Hurricane Mark I replica. My plan was to photograph it, edit it in Photoshop and make the gate guardian look like it was ‘flying’.
So you will imagine my surprise when I got down to the runway and found the privately owned Hurricane IIb based at North Weald was getting ready outside its hangar doors. And of course it took off, flew past and all my hours of Photoshop was rendered pointless (but I did it anyway!).
