some years ago I was asked about a liberator that flew over the Isle of Wight towards Beaulieu then turned back over the island and crashed in the sea between Freshwater and Chale south of the island.I used to be a scuba diver that is why was asked to see if we could find it but we never did as we didn’t have a bearing to go by which makes searching almost like looking for a needle in a haystack.Does anyone have any knowledge of this as it would make a good project for our dive club.

lost liberator
I don’t know,we have dived that area for years not found any aircraft wreckage
,but a fisherman pulled up a prop about 5 miles south of the Nab but never found out what aircraft it was,the only other aircraft remains I have dived is just off the beach in Cowes believed to be a Heinkle but have never been able to positively id it.

lost liberator
I have made a few inquiries regarding the lost liberator and have found out it could have been a flying fortress as the guy thought they were the same
