Princess Flying Boat

Don’t know if this is the right place for this but I have vivid memories of the only Princess that flew as I live in Cowes on the Isle of Wight and remember her flying over our school,we heard it long before seeing her and some of the older kids threw themselves to the ground,perhaps this was to do with the 2nd world war.when they were built they were so large that the wings and tail had to be fitted outside on the slipway.watching them taking off and landing was a sight to see as they threw up plumes of spray so much so you could hardly see the plane.
there will be a 60th anniversary 0n the 22nd of this month in the hanger where they were built with a flying boat fly past and photos on display in the hanger.
