Sir Alan Cobham and his flying circus…

hi,
i,m trying to sort a bit of family folklore/myth out,my grandma used to tell us kids that A.C. visited N. Staffordshire with is flying circus possibly in the twenties, and she looped the loop with him,and had a certificate to that effect but she could nevr put her hands on it.
Does anyone know if indeed A.C ever brought his flying circus to N.Staff,s
or anyone else for that matter,i know of Meir aerodrome but don,t know if it was from there or not?

regards
jack…

We assisted Colin Cruddas with his ‘Those Fabulous Flying Years’ (Air Britain 2003) with material from Pauline Gower’s ‘Harvest of Memories’ which we have just put back into print in paperback form.

As usual – not going to say more because of ‘advertising’

Memories of Cobham’s Flying Circus

My father worked as an apprentice engineer for Cobham in the 1930s. He published some memories in an Australian Magazine called the Western Flyer in or around 1994. I have had to photograph the pages but at least they exist on Flickr right here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/63810556@N03/sets/

Cheers.
