Any ideas what this piece of kit is? It is a solid cast iron housing, so I doubt this is actually from an aircraft and assume it is part of some ground equipment of some kind. I can find no markings or numbers anywhere on this to help provide clues. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

It looks like a reduction gearbox to go on the end of an electric motor. As it had a worm drive, it would also lock in place, so it could be off a winch
