Wing Fold Jack up for grabs

I have just been given Wing Fold Jack still in its crate. It looks like a brand new item but does sadley have some exfoliation corrosion round the main cylinder Coller.

Its a Dowty Unit Type No 3149 Y MkB Serial No ACC50/5L issue 11

The stores ref is 27Q/741 Jack Wing Fold, Part No 3149.YB

Lable dated 22 Nov 1951.

FREE TO A GOOD HOME

So thats what I have. Now whats it off or rather for and is it of any use for a staric aircraft?
