Focke Wulf recce plane used over England?

I have just been reading Ben MacIntyre’s excellent book ‘Agent Zigzag’. The subject of the book – Eddie Chapman – gets dropped over Norfolk by a twin engined FW recce plane with 3 pax crew of Luftwaffe recce squadron 123. After a google I think the recce unit was ‘Aufklärungsgruppe 123’, but I can’t think of a suitable Focke Wulf type which would fit the description, a fast twin that would be on strength with a recce unit in 1942. Anyone?

If you’re in the UK, you might be interested to know there was a documentary about ZigZag and the other agents shown on the BBC last week, and presented by Macintyre himself. Available on iplayer until Monday:

Was one of the FW 191 prototypes flight tested by Aufklärungsgruppe 123 ?

I see in 43/44 that they even had DO-217’s

If indeed it was a type belonging to AufklGr123, take a look at the Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen listings at the foot of this page and as you’ll see, no Focke-Wulf twins are listed. More likely to perhaps be one of the Ju88/Ju188 variants…?

did think about that, but thought it was only used on Army co-operation duties on the eastern front.
