Last saturday my Gliding Club (the Gelderse Zweefvliegclub at Terlet) celebrated it’s 80th anniversary. I managed to get a ride in a Tandem Tutor. Quite a difference with the Nimbus 4DT that I was allowed to fly earlier during the day. But great fun it was!!!!

Nice to see that these pictures bring back some serious memories. Here’s the nose art. It’s applied to both sides of the aircraft. What do you think?

We are currently working on a Schleicher K6 and have a Slingsby T45 Swallow to follow. We have a Tiger and an Auster “Wiv an ‘ook on t’ back” for the towing. Magic.
Just been helping my father do a C of A on a K6. I must get on doing a bit more on my Slingsby Kite 1’s. My father has put most of the ply on the Prototype’s wings.

Had my first flight in a T-31 at RAFGSA Clevelands,RAF Leeming 30 Nov 1958 aged five. I was in the front seat with my dad in the back work that out ballast wise. Years later he said the control column was well forward most of the time.

I was thinking that Pete but figured that we were skinnyish wee things when we flew Mk3’s…perhaps modern pilots are better fed and need a little ‘nose up’ trim 🙂
Lovely pics by the way 🙂

That there glider be XN250, which was at Tangmere in the 1970’s.
If you have fond memories of such devices, prepare to lose a couple of hours on this thread !

Gorgeous finish, colour scheme and ‘badge’ (what’s the right word?) on the nose – many thanks for posting those up, much enjoyed.

Thanks for the photos. They bring back memories of my introduction to gliding at Hawkinge in 1958.
