I’ve just watched the BBC I-Player BB2 5pm 25 June programme on the unveiling. The BBC at it’s BEST. A very moving programme.
The veteran who, after having lost a brother, family and friends, said that now there was a memorial, he felt ‘different’, and I sort of knew what he was getting at – he was smiling.
The roof made from parts of a melted down Halifax (my Grandfather’s type), it’s design reflecting geodetic construction, the opening in the centre, the care put in to the statues, and the wreath made by a DFC veteran – words almost fail me.

‘Lest We Forget’
You did your country, and the bomber boys proud, crew. And how poignant to hear the intercom remarks around the moment of release.
BTW, the touch and go at Cranwell was well controlled considering that (within limits of course) crosswind! Lovely to hear those tyres make contact. Did you manage to avoid that bloddy great storm shortly after?
