Thanks FoxVC10, do you happen to have a picture of this panel as installed on an aircraft beside the pdf file?

These are the C130H panels for access to the fuel tanks. Almost same design and the part numbers are the same format.
Never dealt with the E, but these particular panels are either a L or an R.
Could be Electra or P-3 but the fuel access panels are rectangular.

Here is a closeup of the inspection stamp on this panel, not sure if it will help id the aircraft tpe or not..?

I seem to recall the centre wing lids were square and the reason the went to oval when we re-planked them was to stop cracking from the corners. It’s definitely not off a ‘J’, they are oval.
Perhaps it’s off an Electra or Orion?

My initial thought was dry bay lid but discounted it hence the cowardly ‘I think it is Lockheed’ statement.
I discounted it because it looks too new to be pre wing change; and it may be out there but I am struggling to find any reference to the lids being square even pre-modification. That isn’t to say of course that it isn’t a re-manufactured panel, but why would you make a new panel to fit a hole shape that no longer exists?
I toyed with the idea of J model but can’t find a good enough picture to tell. If the weather turns rubbish I may plough through my old copies of Lockheed Service News to see if there is anything C130 or even Galaxy/Starlifter.
Of course Albert has been changed many many times by just as many operators. There may still be some A models kicking about, although I think after the fire bomber tragedy they may have been withdrawn.

That probably explains why its not in my E/H pretty picture book then.

It certainly looks like a dry bay lid (bay behind each engine).
It could well be an early one as I recall the ‘square’ outboard lids had 2 access flaps and the centre wing ones were oval on the new wings (post 80’s).
Also the screws on the the later lids were Hi torques (Sort of slotted)not NAS517’s (Phillips).
I believe when the centre wings were rebuilt on the RAF ones the tank lids went from square to oval.

200 inch pounds isnt that high though, its only 16 foot pounds or 22Nm.

It is likely that the panel is from a stressed skin construction wing hence the many big fasteners with high torque loadings. It looks possibly Lockheed to me but I would not bet any large sum on it.

Panel
its interesting that it says “no step”which would seem to indicate that it is a non pressurised system from long ago and a top of the wing filler.Yes 200lbs of torque seems a very strange amount .Could this item have been resprayed and stencilled at some time?

Not sure although it does look vaguely familiar?
That recommended max torque loading for the screws seems a bit high though :eek:
