Fresh from my Spitfire tailwheel success….I have just imported a B17 tail wheel from Arizona that is minus its tyre / tire!!!
Before it goes in the museum I would like to source a tyre…I believe it is an SC26….does anyone please have a static tyre I could buy or donate money for?
cheers
Tony

The B-17 parts group mentioned is the B-17 Co-operative ~ which meets once a year to discuss common themes and needs. It’s primary function is I believe to keep the airworthy one flying. I don’t have contact details I’m afraid ……
I do know that spare airworthy tail wheel tires are in such short supply that the Liberty Foundation sought and obtained design approval to manufacture and use a new tail wheel unit that would take a standard Boeing 737 nose wheel tire.
With FAA approval ~ the design was then offered to other B-17 groups at the next B-17 Co-op meeting …..
Good hunting with your quest to find one though 🙂

There is a B-17 parts group in the US that acts as a clearinghouse for leads on parts for the various operational aircraft.
You could probably find a contact on WIX.
