”The wind is forecast to be gusting at over 40 knots for set-up day (Friday) and over 30 knots for Saturday but only 11 knots to calm on Sunday when the wind will be replaced by a band of heavy rain.
This early cancellation will at least give all the crews, volunteer helpers, sponsored young people and all other supporters and potential passengers a chance to re-arrange their weekend in the warm and dry. ….provided they are aware.
We are investigating the prospects of re-scheduling for a date in September and will assume (never assume) that all those who are part of the Teague Challenge will be happy for us to carry their sponsorship forward. As usual, no money has been banked nor will be until after flights have been successfully completed.
Thanks to all the team who have already put in a lot of time and effort. Unfortunately, a re-run requires more than just a change of date on the paperwork.
Please advise any members of your immediate circle whom you knew to be planning a trip to Old Warden Aerodrome this weekend that the event is OFF. The news will be covered on the Club website and we hope too on the Shuttleworth website. I am sure somebody will pick up the facts and post them on one or more of the other aviation websites.
Very sorry….must try harder on making sustainable dates.”

Thanks for posting this. I had originally hoped to go for a flight but couldn’t afford it so had contemplated going anyway to take photos. Thankfully your post saved me the petrol costs for a 200 mile round trip and I can put that towards a Shuttleworth display later in the year.

Quick bump, to save wasted trips.
