Diamond Jubilee

Just watched the river pageant. An excellent show, and absolutely full marks to the lady singers with the London Philharmonic, talk about “singing in the rain”.

Any how, I flew in a coronation flypast 59 years ago in the Muddle East

On the far left is the leading vic of 219 sqdn in the Meteor NF13, centre are the two vics of 13 sqdn in the Meteor PR10, the pic being taken from the starboard side of 39sqdn.

And here am I, on the left staring at the camera, looking suitably p***ed off after returning from that little trip round the Suez Canal Zone, to find the children had been let into the mess and the bar was NOT open.

Given where the Queen’s barge was moored, was the Swordfish going to fly under Tower Bridge? I’m sure the Fleet Air Arm have been itching to do that ever since the RAF (unofficially of course) had a Hunter fly under it

I got to watch some of it on BBC America,my GF was impressed so many turned out for this in spite of the less than ideal conditions. It all looked very impressive.

Agree a very good performance despite the awful weather . Why was Prince William constantly fiddling with his collar button ? was it the old stud type collar ? Kate should have worn a coat and the Queen looked cold at times. Really missed the Swordfish and RN helicopter flypasts, lets hope the weather plays fair for Tuesdays flypast.
