Recently found the attached advert for the Triumph Spitfire 1500 in the USA. It also features Ginger Lacey in AR213. It must have been owned by the Hon. Patrick Lindsay at the time so probably dates to the mid to late 70s.

I wonder if the connection between Ginger Lacey and AR213 had been made at the time or was it just a happy coincidence that he was photographed in the Spitfire he had flown at 57 OTU.

Clearly a product of the times…..

Only a few weeks ago I dug up a video of the matching TV Triumph ad off of YouTube – I’m sure it’ll be easy to find, just search the forum for Spitfire.:diablo:
Love the reggie on the flying club ‘plane – very relaxing. G-AAAH would have been more apt for a parachuting club aircraft, I’d have thought…

This is the second Grindale strip but I can’t remember where the first one was nor find it on GE but I’m sure someone will locate it for us ?

No – he instructed PPL – not the parachuting. Presumably he flew the jump aircraft as well – although have to say I didn’t really notice the pilot when i got on and off 😮
We knew the field as “Grindale”

No , not a parachute instructor but he flew the jump plane . At least I don’t think he was !
The current parachute club is at East Leys Farm between Bridlington and Grindale . You can search for it on Google Earth and the strip is easily seen .

Ginger Lacey was a jump instructor? Bit off topic but exactly where do Brid para guys fly from? I often fly around that area and stay clear of the drop zone but where is the airfield?

Thanks for that. I did a parachuting course at Bridlington where he instructed and remember seeing him in the bar there.

He was a technical adviser on the BoB film in 1968. I remember him being reported as saying…’my old Spitfire’ and I thought then that it was a bit convenient…but sure enough.
I have the relevant log entries for his many flights in AR213.
When will we see the red white and blue stripes I wonder?
