Rochford, can you identify the website or, better still, provide a hyperlink to the advertisement, please?

There is a partially restored Luciole advertised FOR SALE every 6 months or so on french site. it seems to be in a large wooden barn with cars, carts & perhaps other aviation bits. Anybody know which one this is? I cannot identify it as one of those in the list above(thanks for posting list).

Wasn’t it Richard Bach who dubbed the Luciole the worst plane he’d ever flown?

Just a re-mention, Franck, of the question that I asked in my last post – over six months ago!

Franck, I don’t suppose that J P Touzeau has any information on the fate of Caudron C-276 Luciole nº 7207-26 which is said to have been destroyed in Ireland in 1965 during the filming of ‘The Blue Max’? It was G-ATI0 ex F-PHQM/F-AOFD. Back in 2009 its fate was much debated on this forum at http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=87364.

According to the DGAC website, the registration of F-AZCU is current. It is registered to Denis Incenti at Tournus-Cuisery.

Thanks for that avion ancien.Good to know that she is current.

thanks for the comments about the photos

Sorry Sopwith I don’t know this Luciole , I know we have few Luciole in flight condition in France (4 or 5) and one in FLorida but this one is the last with a Salmson engine

I have a photo somewhere, will try to find it .I know that he rebuilt it and it got damaged shortly afterwards and he put it up for sale.that was late 1980’s if I remember correctly.I know that he lived not to far away from La Ferte-Alais if that helps and he was an airline engineer.

I don’t know if it is one of your four airworthy Lucioles, Franck, but there is also F-PAPI which the DGAC lists as being based at Caen. It has an inline Renault engine. It has always struck me that with that engine, the Luciole has a stately presence, whereas with the Salmson radial it looks just a touch raffish!

As to Michel Berthelot’s Luciole, can you please identify that Sopwith. I can find references to it on the web but not an identity for it.

Jean-Pierre my friend world specialist of the Caudron Luciole said me that 4 Luciole are in flight condition in France

This one at La Ferté Alais with the Radial Salmson engine

3 others one with ‘in line’ engine at Lessay, La Baule and Saint Rambert (close to be in flight)

and for information there is no Velcro or glue under the berret, just a good fitting in addition with low speed 🙂
