Hampden at Langley B.C

Paid a visit to the Aviation Museum at Langley B.C. Canada yesterday and came across a rather sorry looking Hampden outside. Its Port wing is being worked on and , while the Museum is doing what it can, this surely deserves a place inside a nice dry Hangar somewhere. I have more pics on Photobucket for those that wish to see more –

A lot of it is non original, but as such a unique airframe it does deserve to be undercover and I’ve often wondered why nobody has shown more interest in the beast.

I dare say the folk at Langley are doing the best they can.

A huge effort to rebuild this recovered Hampden,a shame funding for a building was not available. My puzzle..what scheme is it painted in? I have seen similiar on a Huricane rebuilt in Canada, seems rather on the light side.

Dunno about you, but it looks a damn sight better than any other Hampden i’ve ever seen.

You should have seen this Hampden when it was pulled from Approx 600 feet of water back in the seventies or eightys. These guys have done a fantastic job. It sat there for around 40 years, air still in tires and markings still readable.
But…apparently it was damaged a few years ago from snow weight after a huge snow storm. Hopefully they can get it back to where it was.
