I have been clearing up a lot of my stuff lately and came across some gen about Alan Lovelock and a Spitfire mk9 that he was going to recover from the summit of Scafell Massif in Cumbria. According to what was written Supermarine Engineering were going to rebuild the fuselage. My question is did any of this ever happen, what became of it and what was the identity of the Spitfire?

‘The recovered parts are with Mark Harris of Supermarine Aero Engineering, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, who continues to store them but has the long-term intention of restoring it to flight status.’
Mark
Thanks, much appreciate the info 🙂

Mark has just completed a Seafire XVI fuselage so now has all the formers and jigs sorted to restore 611, he was talking of making a start on it this year which will be great.

Can we get a clue as to its current status or is it a case of waiting for the book?
