What to build?

So after some time off work I have finished some old jobs and now thinking of building a WW1 FSM slow time, Would prefer something with an inline engine and not available to see in the UK but open to any suggestions and thoughts:confused: Seems people like FSM (I started a thread before to test the water) and would like to display my machine when finished! Just after opinions and idea’s at the minute and will make a start when i have finished the old hunter I still haven’t fitted the tail too:rolleyes:

John,
Thanks for the datafile number I shall get it bought swiftly, After brief research I found it looked very simple to build a good accurate static replica. It is a bonus if there is some local connection’s to be found, Time to get the workshop cleared out and lazer cutting boy’s on standby for rib duty:D
Although if I don’t get the hunter finished I will have a very ragged off co-owner so better finish one first

You could always try a ” Biggles ” like the Jet Age Museum fund raiser , or maybe something like their replica Gamecock, a long time labour of love & still being worked on .

For the DH.6. All you need is the Windsock Datafile No103 and the rigging notes are still to be found. Every rib is the same in both wings, except for the wing section there’s not a curve in sight. either two or four blade prop. I seem to recall DH.6’s were used for Joy flights at Skegness.

Hey mate, thats a very smart little machine I knew nothing about which is a poor show to say where I live! Would be good if there were plans??? I’m rather taken by the Dh.6 as it looks a very simple build and I now have the plans now :D, Would look just the ticket outside the new barn on summers evening with BBQ on full bore. Speaking of which:diablo:

How about a Robey Tractor Scout built in Lincoln? I wonder if any plans exist?

Anything by Armstrong Whitworth. NEAM would love to have an FK8 or Ara.

Oh that looks exactly the sort of thing I had in mind and size as it would compliment my tiger nicely and not dwarf it like the HP:eek: Also no complex curve’s etc. I keep looking at the N17 but alas don’t fancy making the cowl 😉

A flat four Lyc is not going to be easily hidden in something Inline! Be easier to hide it in a Rotary cowl with a dummy infront of it.

what about a Martinsyde F4 Buzzard?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martinsyde_Buzzard

seems to be the Martin-Baker MB5 of the First World War, losing out to the Snipe on account of cost in the immediate post-war period.

Saw limited RAF service as well as service in Finland Spain and Russia

It would be unique in this country

Hi, Yeah I fancy building something first world war as its been something of interest to me for many many years, I believe I have the skill level to build an FSM as I have been an GA engineer for a good few years. I would not want to waste tens of thousands building something that could not fly but it would be nice to do something without endless paperwork that I can crack on and enjoy (take to shows etc). You guessed correctly that I have a time ex lyc 4pot in the shed so a ground runner is not out the question. Not to worried about built to original design as long as it looks totally correct when viewed close quarters and cockpit.

Ever since I built the Airfix kit as a kid I’ve wanted a Hanover CLII – I think it was the biplane tailplane that got to me.
