Its a common planning ploy where there is a potentially sensitive historic issue with building a housing estate, they give out all the positive vibes about restoration etc so everybody gets used to the idea of actually building on the site, then it tails off after a few months and then the focus is just on building the houses. It happened to Fort Clarence in Rochester in Kent, although it wasn’t knocked down a great opportunity to restore it to its original setting was lost as it was surrounded by housing so the moats couldn’t be dug out and then horror of horrors they actually built on top of the Historic Gun Tower! And by the way EH were hand in glove to this vandalism.

Makes me sick.

Take it Down piece by piece, transport it to Stow Maries and re construct it were it would fit in perfectly.

Yeah, like that would happen, right !! Lets smash everything up and then build a replica or just keep the doors to go with all the beheaded aircraft Cockpits.

What happened to the oft quoted “duty of care”? EH are normally only too pleased to enforce remedial works, and this is grade 2* ; he says since the restoration work, has stopped it has become dangerous…. a bit obvious really isn’t it?
