Norfolk Visit

A couple of weeks ago I went on a short visit to Norfolk – I was lucky enough to stay within the area taken up by the various sites of RAF Wendling used by the 392nd Bomb Group. A few bits around to see hidden under years of growth and paid my respects at the memorial.

First stop was the Muckleburgh collection – all be it a collection mainly of vehicles harrier XZ968 cut a sorry site on the way in. The weather seems to be taking its toll, the cockpit seems complete but the seal around the canopy has gone – you can see the damage when you look in the cockpit. The rest fairs no better, though the inards look well bearing in mind they are open to the elements.

Also we made a brief visit to the Norwich Aviation Museum….. only stumbled on it near closing whilst passing Norwich. All I can say is what a great bunch of staff there – even though time was short they made us more than welcome and could not of been more helpful. Credit to the museum.
I look forward to going back and spending some time there.
