Battle or Defiant data plate – maybe?

Is it possible to establish the origin of a data plate marked as:

PILOTS COCKPIT STRUCTURE
ANA 243 PA 3392 ISSUE
INSP * * AID
DATE 22 4 39

The plate is steel, attached to a section of 1.5 in OD thin wall steel tube.

The * entries above are cooled lead “drops” impressed with hallmarks.
