Which Spit? – Sqn Letter G – M25 low pass

Spitfire and Mustang out playing today but which ones?

Whilst travelling southbound on the M25 at midday around 7 miles north of the Dartford Crossing, a Spitfire passed low overhead (Circa 500ft and 100yds ahead) . It was in to sun so I couldn’t see many details, plus of course I was driving. The squadron Letter appeared to be G although I couldn’t see the Sqn code.

Having passed west to east it made a circle to the south and returned heading northerly and passing directly overhead along the line of the M25. Again into sun I could not make out many features although the spinner looked as though it may have been two tone.

At the same time a Mustang was having fun out to the west a mile or so away.

Any ideas as to which 2 aircraft were playing in the sun today?
