Hudson. Possibly Lae or Madang in Papua New Guinea. Will look up the relevant book to confirm. May even be my Dragon in the background as it spent a few years theer with QANTAS

Looks more like a Hudson than a Lodestar because of the glased nose, although it appears longer than usual. You can clearly make out the letters ‘VH’ under the wing, which suggests that it’s Australian. That means the Dragon in the background was manufactured in Aussie. I don’t know anything more, but because everyone is standing or seated in the shade of the machine, it’s obviously very hot!The figure in the foreground and the one at far left are of considerable standing based on their clothing compared to others.
Perhaps an Aussie forum member can be more specific?
