Never moan about internet prices again!

Someone posted an excellent link to an F84 cockpit in a French auction. Just found the final bids. The lots were nicely presented and more value may be set on ‘art’ than over here but lordy, two grand for a Mirage stick. It makes a couple of well known British internet vendors look like charity shops.

Sunday morning time wasting. Looking at Lot 105, it shows an inverted Anson, TX168 lying against a building. Quick check of the serial and it ‘hit building on overshoot and crashed in Edgware Road, Hendon, 9/2/48’. A trip up Edgware Rd on Google streetview and it looks like the building has gone. I wonder if there is a plaque? doesn’t look like a landing one would walk away from.

It looks as if we go to rather different vide greniers. But I’m sure that those who deal in aeronautica are unlikely to ply their trade at these any more than they would at your average British Sunday morning boot sale. Chalk and cheese readily comes to mind!

Ever been to a French bootfair? their old tat is hideously expensive but nobody buys anything! I could never work out why they bothered.

Yes people seem to price stuff so high as if they never really wanted to sell it,had someone tell me the other day he sold a pile of aircraft stuff to someone who just basically added a `0` to the price they sold it for…don`t think the original seller will be dealing with them again.

It appears that many of you would be surprised how buoyant the French aeronautica market is, despite the current economic climate. Not infrequently items for which I bid on eBay.fr sell for prices beyond which I am prepared to pay. The French aeronautica market has an obvious preference for items connected with French aviation and the French aviation industry – so if the “well known British internet vendors” have such items in their stock, maybe they’d be well advised to sell them on eBay.fr or leboncoin!
