Rivet Head Codes

Help! Has anyone got a list of letters vs. material grades?

Here’s a start

I L36 1050A pure Al non structural
7 L37 2014A
8 L58 5056A for mag. parts
L86 2117 general purpose

what about D and S, was there an older standard?

Glad to be of service. Tough when the Colonials need to tell the Poms though.

Thanks Stan!

I want to replace some marked with an S.

It’s only for static and I don’t suppose it matters that much – just wanted to get it right  so i started to swot up in the internet to see what sort to buy and found the new codes and the various American dimple codes but no reference to the old school letters.

Bingo! found it online here http://www.scribd.com/doc/35948339/CAIP-Part-I

case closed 🙂

Hi Smirky,
What you need is a copy of the old ARB CAIP leaflet BL/6-27.
This enumerates 38 AS rivet types, 17 SP imperial types , 8 SP metric types and 19 MS american types plus all the other bumff that goes with rivet selection and processing.Do you want specific information or just general interest.
