Hi all
There is a reference on-line that suggests Jim Mollison’s record-breaking Puss Moth G-ABXY The Heart’s Content was bright yellow, with silver wings.
This is news to me – I had always assumed it was all-silver, but that is probably due to only ever seen B & W images of the aircraft!
Can anyone provide any supporting evidence of these colours?
Cheers
DR

September 2009, Robin Hasting mentions
“”The Heart’s Content” was overall yellow with the name in black script under the side windows with registry (G-ABXY) in large black letters on the side with the Union Jack on the upper rudder. I have sent you four pictures of the plane for reference.”
I’ve sent him an email – waiting for his response…

Thanks – that was the image that got my attention in the first place! Quite striking, isn’t it?
I have looked at a number of sources for G-ABXY today, and none of them mention the colour! The extensive Flight article about the aircraft goes into considerable detail, but says nothing about colour either.
Thanks Flytst!

You should read his biography, I can’t remember the title, but he was certainly a scallywag. It talks at length about the Puss Moth. I vaguely remember seeing reference to the rego and the words in red, rather than silver, just to throw a spanner in the works.

Another bw picture – but the “colour” of the fuselage seems to me more likely yellow as silver (compared with the colour of the most likely grey tarmac)
