When you add in those a/c damaged beyond repair, then those badly damaged but took time to repair, the loss of experienced airman, it was a very bad result, but it did not stop the theory of Daylight Precision Bombing. Also credit to the 170 B.17’s crews on mission 85 only 2 days later 19/8/43…
