The pilot of the first replica didn’t kill himself during landing which suggests that any conclusion drawn from the results of the latest radio controlled landing is invalid.

So what does that prove? The glider wasn’t crashworthy? Hardly supprising I would suggest.
By: DazDaMan - 28th March 2012 at 08:56
From the article, the pilot said he had to bring the glider down short on account of buildings that weren’t built on the proposed landing site in 1945….

Replica Colditz glider crashes !!
Quote:
‘The radio-controlled replica, which was piloted by a dummy, had soared from the roof above the main chapel. But it crash-landed and the body was decapitated, suggesting the escapees who would have piloted the a/c would have died.’
A reasonable assumption from the off, I would suggest !!

Its the same production company doing this one, that did the last one – so its pretty much a follow on from that earlier series!
Steve – I’ll put as much beer as you can drink in the bar at Bicester on it if it isnt better! – if its much better – I’ve always wanted to see what the Biggles Biplane is like! 🙂

Mind you. Having just watched the programme made in 2000, they will have to go some to beat it!

I think its a great idea – anything to promote gliding!

I’m probably raining on somebody’s parade but hey -ho….
Isn’t this a bit of a pointless exercise, given the fact that within the last 3 or 4 years, and with the help of one or more of the original designer/builders (sadly no longer with us) somebody has already made a replica and proved that it can fly
or am I missing something here?

So this is a ‘new’ one?
Of course, it is quite old. I would not have expected that they could have got it up again so soon.

Made out of ‘porridge,’ flown by ‘dummies’- it’s got to be a winner !
