Looks like John Romain flying it, bet he never imagined he’d be flying it one day when he was a schoolboy working for OHB

I knew he had flown it as no2, but not solo.

I’ve got a photo of the cockpit somewhere but it’s much better to remember the T-33 while it was ripping up the sky at Old Warden.

The cockpit is indeed in Germany, part of a collection run by the Sammler & Hobbywelt company in Alten-Buseck:

Man, I can’t believe it’s over five years since the accident. Before I clicked on the link I would have sworn it was no more than three. I really am getting old it seems. Only good part is that I can be my grumpy old self now and get away with it, as that is expected from an old fogey… :p

Is Alan Walker still flying historic aircraft?

That cockpit should’ve been painted black with Flt Lt O.A Haydon-Baillie painted under the canopy & placed on display at Duxford

Roobarb
The T33 belly landed at Bitburg not Hahn, and that was due to a flame out after completing a display with a touch and go ,it just about cleared the airfield fence and came down in the field at the end of the runway.
Only the two seats were used from the Golden Apple T33 in the German based T33.

The main wreckage was scrapped and the cockpit section stored at Duxford for several yerars. It was then sold on to the operators of the airworthy German based T-33 as a proceedures trainer. That T-33 then suffered a belly in at Hahn and was written off itself. I believe the former Black Knight cockpit section is now at a German museum.

Hi 8674planes,
There are a couple of threads here on the subject. The Search engine seems to be acting up again .. I did manage to find these using google instead. Hope this helps?
