Hi All,
Picked this DC-3 rudder up a while back and I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on the i/d of the particular aircraft it came off?

Air Atlantique bought Miaco in Malta and brought its stock of engines and equipment to the U.K

Maybe one of the two UK registered Daks used in the filming brought back some ‘spares’? 😉

Ta
Thanks for your efforts there, Newforest and Eric.
It looks like 535 is the favourite as the colour strips on the rudder don’t look as if they diverge enough on 565 to cover such a large area on the rudder.
I wonder how it ended up at Coventry?

[QUOTE=Newforest;1854144]Those are the two (you could have kept Anon in suspense a little longer :D).

Sorry Newforest, hadn’t seen your post yet 😉
I remembered the colours from 1987 when my father was involved in the rescue of another DC-3 from Malta that was initially bought for the engines, but was in such a good condition it was flown out and restored to fly.

And you have part of a film star! 😉

And the best photo of N535M.

Here is a photo of N535M before its fiery end. 🙁
And N565 on its wheels.
And another of N565.

Both missing rudders:

Conoco colour scheme. I would suggest N535M or N565 which both ended up at Malta but there may have been more.

After looking through almost 5000 photos, I have found your aircraft, well you have a choice of two which I will give you…………….:)

Thanks for that info. That would suggest that this tail might not be from a UK registered plane. 😉

PML had a plain white tail, though it does have that brush-painted look that yours has. Plenty of pix online if you google the reg.

Info?
No, none at all, FLY.BUY.
He’s the sort of dealer who wouldn’t have a clue anyway.
A.
By: FLY.BUY - 5th February 2012 at 17:30
Was there any other information from the dealer to help identify this apart from a Coventry connection?
By: Newforest - 5th February 2012 at 16:54
Just checked 1200 DC-3 photos, no trace. Reminiscent of Intra Jersey Airlines but not quite the same. Coventry really ties it to that area and G-APML was there at some time, sans rudder before being cancelled from the register. 🙂

Still looking for you! Presumably EI-AYO is still at Wroughton, complete?
By: Arabella-Cox - 5th February 2012 at 16:39
Hmmm, please elaborate, Newforest.
Before I’m accused of nicking the rudder from a DC-3:eek:, it came, via a dealer, from Coventry.

Stolen from Wroughton? 😀

EI-AYO?
