Hello all. Could someone tell me where I can find out details of an aircrash B24 10/06/1944 please? My father-in-law attended this crash and helped the pilot escape the wreckage. He would like to know more< and wonders if anything is in print?? Thanks

Thank you, Andy. If you can come up with something you will, I suspect, make an elderly gent very happy!

Yes….I do have all the details. Somewhere!
A definite date would be a start. I think, from memory, it went across what is now the playing field area and ended up against a bungalow on Bexhill Road. I think the bungalow has now gone.

My reason for reviving this thread is one of serendipity. Whilst researching the history of Pebsham Aerodrome – which it wasn’t when this Liberator was forced to use it as such – I’ve had correspondence with someone whose mother made tea for the American crew whilst they were waiting to be picked up and taken back to their base. He remembers this event because one of the crew gave him a toy aeroplane that he (the crew member) had made from scrap. He has told me that he would like to know more about this crash. So can anyone help me to help him?
