After reading through the Sea Vixen thread I spotted this link ..
http://www.portsmouthairfestival.co.uk/
Nice to see a new event and I shall be keeping an eye on what will be added.
Anyone have or know of more details?

I can understand the financial reasons for the Portsmouth Air Festival cancellation, but also the clash with the Pompey v Bournemouth football match over the same weekend, the league would never have agreed to postpone that for the air show. It would have been interesting if the re-vitalised Lee-on-Solent airfield would have been used as base for the smaller/lighter aircraft participants, will now have to wait till 2013 to find out, fingers crossed for next year anyway.:)

Well with the Bournemouth air festival running shortly after this we only need one in Southampton to fill the gap and everyone can come spend most of the month down on the south coast.
I do question the need for 2 large displays within almost visible distance of each other only a fortnight apart. Portsmouth is also a complete b*tch for parking and this is going to be a gridlocked nightmare. I can see trouble as well considering the number of dodgy housing estates in the area and the likelihood of plenty of alcohol being available in the vicinity of southsea common. This assessment I assure you has nothing to do with the fact that I grew up in Southampton and now live near Bournemouth 🙂
I will go but I think arriving by sea makes more sence.

Rumours going round that it’s going to be a 7 hour display and that the Vulcan, Swordfish and the French/Swiss display teams are all rumoured to be confirmed. How much of that is true I do not know! So don’t shoot the messenger! 😀
