Sadly T61 G-BUFN ( ex ZA631 ) was written off today at about 8AM at Compton Abbas. It was
upside down in the car park at the eastern end, port wing broken in half,
fuselage twisted and tailplane smashed though a gate.
The Yak 50 had swung round into wind dragging its tiedowns with it and a couple
of Cessnas were straining to point into wind too.
All at Wing Farm was Sitting tight and snug.
Regards
Mark

Very sad news indeed, from a fellow Venture owner it really does sadden the heart.

921 hours on type on 616 ATC Gliding School Henlow 1982-1993.
I soloed on XZ558 (from memory) at Henlow in September 1986! If I remember, the fleet then was XZ558, 559 and ZA630.
Sorry to hear about 631.

What a shame 🙁
I should imagine that hundreds of air cadets did their first solo in that machine.
It seems a bit odd to leave such a fragile aircraft outside with very high winds forecast.
