Seeking info on Vickers Mark V .303 machine guns

Hi All, happy new year to everyone.

Can anyone help with dimensions, drawings, photos, etc of aircraft-mounted Vickers Mark V .303 machine guns?

These were used in the CAC Wirraway and I’m trying to get some detailed information to generate CAD drawings and detailed 3D models of these guns for my “virtual Wirraway” project.

Regards,
Derek

And now I’ve updated the Wirraway page with details on all 3 types of machine guns which the aircraft carried. Click here to view.

OK, making good progress now. The Royal Armouries in Leeds found some useful original factory drawings, and one of my Aussie contacts had some dimensional data. I’ve now updated my CA-1 Wirraway drawing with accurate barrel details (hard to see on a JPEG file on the web) and I’m half-way into creating usable drawings of the whole gun.

You can see the updated drawing at the top of my CA-1 Wirraway page. More to come soon…

Making my way to the Royal Armouries next week, with some time booked in their library… let’s see what I find. They also have a part-time researcher looking into it for me…

Thanks QldSpitty. The Aerodrome site has lots of great detail on the early Vickers aircraft guns (Mark I and Mark II) for WWI aircraft. From there (a long while ago) I found a link to the Fine Model Works website, which has some excellent Vickers gun drawings, but sadly not the Mark V.
