Please be advised that this plaque recording the restoration of Boeing 707 VH-EBA at Southend has “gone walkabout”. Collectors need to be aware that this unique item might turn up on auction sites or at car boot sales.

Thank you for your kind offer. I checked with the folk at Southend and they feel that plastic might not be robust enough for the task. If the original doesn’t turn up they will probably obtain a replacement in metal and use tamper resistent fixings. Thanks again for the thought.

If it’s made of metal, chances are it’s been nicked for scrap. Metal theft is a huge problem here, a number of plaques have been stolen from war memorials and historic houses etc over the last couple of years.

That said, fingers crossed that it does turn up.
