Old Warden: Avro 504K Update 17-12-11

A quick visit to Old Warden today, to check on progress with the Avro 504K project found a completed fuselage in the workshop hangar. Looking superb in its night-fighter scheme, the completion is dependent on the engine rebuild.

The Sea Hurricane has her Merlin refitted:

Active today was this Bonanza, G-NEWT. Very much a vintage aircraft (built 1947), she is also a warbird, having seen service with the Israeli Air Force:

Another major project is the Restaurant expansion. I am confident it will be ready for my breakfast on Spring Airshow day,May 6th.

To my untrained eye, the port wing has progressed with reskinning and the starboard wing is further dismantled. The fuselage remains in waiting. There were no engineers around during my quick visit, they may have been allowed a rare day off.

Thanks. Looking good, although I suspect it’ll be a while before we see AR501 up in the skies again!

It’s nice to see a restaurant expansion, from where real takings beckon.

I hope they’re going to re-position the sign!:D

That 504 looks superb. How was the Spitfire coming along?

Good update, thanks. Looks like the Comet is getting some TLC as well. The Bonanza belongs to Sir John Allison who is not unknown in warbird circles.
