After the Vulcan seat in the ‘seen on ebay’ thread I have pulled mine from the corner of the study with a view to putting it on wheels, using as the ‘office’ chair and potentially scooting around the room. Also freeing up much needed corner space. Reading XF940’s informative descriptions of the functions of the various bits I’m curious as to how to get the firing assembly cables back inside the head box, and to what they attach. I’m confident they are not supposed to be flapping around on the top. Help much appreciated.

Thanks very much! A page or two from the manual would be most appreciated. I’ve got a parts list for a 4BS which gives a bit of orientation but doesn’t show how the bits actually fit. The rail is now re attached (a challenge in a small room) but not sure whether time delay is extant. PM sent.

Ian,
PM me your email and I’ll get back to you with whatever info you need on the 3KS – have two currently fully kitted seats so can take photo’s & possibly scan the manual if required (if I can locate it!).
As for what they attach to – it’s the canopy jettison and time delay firing unit on the back of the seat rail – one ‘leg’ of the bifurcated firing cable operates the canopy firing lever, the other activates the time-delay trip that runs after the canopy block has been removed (to stop the seat firing into the canopy if it hasn’t gone). That pulls the sear out of the main gun primary to fire the seat. If you haven’t got the rail, then you won’t have the time delay firing unit, so nowhere to attach the two ends of the cable.
