I’m trying to assemble the components to build a starboard bomb aimers panel for a Mk 3 Lancaster. I have found several pics and diagrams none of which have the 5/xxxx refs on them. Some items are easy enough to recognise ( preselector, selector, auto distributor ) others (light, dimmer switch, watch holder, fusing switches etc.) are a bit more difficult.
Can anyone point me to an annotated diagram or a list of components and their references? Also does anyone know if there is a bomb aimer’s equivalent of the “Pilot and Flight Engineer Notes Booklet”?
My late Dad ( P 1238603 Keith Grahame Thompson DFC) did a tour with 101 Squadron in late ‘43 early ’44. He was one of the lucky ones who made it back from the Nurnberg raid on the 30 March ‘44, 101 lost 7 out of 26. He survived the war and reenlisted 1950-1978. He was a Navigator but I don’t have space for a nav table, H2S etc., hence the BA panel!
Thanks, Paul

hello all who are still on this forum from ages ago. I need help to wire up my Lancaster bomb aimer panel. I’m nearly there but I need advice from some of you who have tried and got results themselves.
I am willing to share my own findings and points . Robert

That’s a 12V one:eek:, wouldn’t it be the 24V equivalent 5C/724?

A quick check of my reference bible mentions a 5c/367 Type A Dimmer switch as being applicable to the Mk II Cockpit lamp.
Hope that helps

Thanks Everyone for your help, I”ll get stuck in to putting a panel together. I do intend to wire it, I have the circuit diagrams so I’m thinking about rigging it to a led light board representing the bomb positions, with 3 different colours representing fusing and release. Connecting to a real bomb bay would be something but ……!!!
