Does anyone know to a aircraft transporter tractor and trailer QM type war time period preferably but a post war one considered.around 30-40 feet.I know they did them up to 60 footers but that is to big.
Looking for either one already restored and running or a project.If anyone is familiar with the East Kirkby one not sure the make that size and type would be ideal type for our purposes.Or a modern equivilent.

When I was involved with Tangmere Museum we had one there. I have no idea if they still have it. I suspect not. I know that we tried to find a home for it but there were no takers. I suspect they may have later scrapped it. After the departure from there of myself and Xtangomike a great deal of what was classed as our “junk and rubbish” was dumped. After all…who would on earth would be interested in or want a Ju 87 Jumo engine, Me 109 F tail fin, Spitfire DH prop assembly, He 177 undercarriage leg or a pile of old aero engines to name but few? Maybe they took it all to the scrapyard on the Queen Mary?

Apparently it was a nickname coined due to the length of the trailer and that of the Queen Mary, seems strange to think now as they don’t look that long compared with modern trailers.

As an aside. My Dad used to drive a Queen Mary, as his contribution to defeating The Hun.
And crash tenders and other assorted hardware.

I’ve spoken to Bill R tonight and, after him saying he is looking for one, I suggested I could put out a request on this forum. Seems you had the same idea too!
He’s planning a trip across to see you soon and I may tag along to have a look at this S******e he is very excited about

I seem to recollect that, a while ago, one was being offered for sale complete with a Harvard on board. It was being advertised for sale on one of the ex-military equipment sales’ sites. I seem to think that it was in Belgium or the Netherlands. Sorry to be so vague. Memory is not what once it was!
