While tidying some files up, I found this footage I shot back in 2008 when I ‘borrowed’ David and Mark Miller’s wonderful Rapide G-AGJG. The aircraft is a genuine warbird, having served throughout the war with Scottish Airways, and later with Monique Agazarian’s Island Air Services. The route flown is DUX – Station 121 Bassingbourn, then up the avenue to Wimpole Hall, finally orbiting the American Cemetary at Maddingley with it’s characteristic fan shape. Truly the Rapide IS the Gentlemans Aerial Carriage, and this is the only way to fly!
Bassingbourn from the air shows just how much of the airfield has been ‘lost’ and from what I can gather, even more is going to dissapear.
