Spitfire Folks:
Just came across an article about a civilian owned Spitfire Reg LV-NMZ who once flew at Rosario, Argentina c. 1947.
According to the article, it was owned by a former RAF pilot named James Elwin S.. The plane was later confiscated by the local government c. 1949 and flew as a test camera bed aircraft until it crashed due to engine failure c. 1952. LV-NMZ was later scrapped for lack of spare parts.
Perhaps the Spitfire folks are able to expand on the details & history of this aircraft while in the UK as well as the ferry trip to Argentina. A photo of the pilot will be also welcome. Photo Via Mikell. S.
Tks in advance!

Sounds as though you live in San Isidro, Bob. Hope the mosquitos are not too ferocious. I’m near Coronel Suarez only 600 km away.
I’d love to talk Lancs & Lincolns in Argentina if this is up your street.

Spitfire in Argentina
Spitfire in Argentina! Thank you for such an incredible Story, brought me back my English memories of Boarding School in England, and movies like the “Battle of Britain” as well as Boy Adventure Stories! I live today in Buenos Aires, on the outskirts of the Big City of Bs As, along the Silver River ( Rio de la Plata ) and I will check up information to see what if any more information I can supply,…….. Cheers, Bob Frassinetti
