I had a stroll through Ripon Cemetery yesterday and discovered a short row of German gravestones. No details on them, just a German cross, name, no rank, and date of death. What was puzzling though was that they were all postwar – 1946,7 and 8. There were no wartime graves at all. Does anyone have a solution to this conundrum? By the way, some kind soul(s) had planted wooden crosses with poppies by them.
There was also a poignant set of RCAF graves nearby; obviously all from the same crash dated 1943 and a single RAAF grave from, I think, 1945.
