Advice sought on removing paint from aluminium

As it says in the title after a bit of advice!

Without going down the ‘blasting route’ I need to remove some paint before a repaint, the metal is in good condition just need to remove the paint.

Does anyone have experience using paint strippers and if so which one? I dont want to damage the metal underneath of course.
