Are our European Allies fairly represented by the IWM?
There were many squadrons with pilots from Poland, France, Czechoslovakia, Norway, Belgium and Holland. Polish was by far the largest contingent, outnumbering all the others combined.
“Had it not been for the magnificent material contributed by the Polish squadrons and their unsurpassed gallantry, I hesitate to say that the outcome of battle wouldn’t have been the same”
Air Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding (1941)

There was a set of display boards in Hangar 4 at Duxford recently, which listed all the Polish pilots in the Battle of Britain. They have been replaced by a replica Spitfire.

The ‘set’ was Europe. – Of the European allies, there were more Poles that all the others combined.
It’s a perfectly accurate statement.
However I don’t think debating misunderstanding the question is much use of the forum, given the standard of language and comprehension at times, and has nothing to do with examining or answering the question. Let’s focus on that instead.

I took it to read largest non-British contingent in the RAF rather than in within a fixed geographic area, otherwise it’s like saying ‘Australians made up the largest contingent from Australasia’ er yes….but….

Question of defining the inclusions. Most of the Commonwealth lies outside Europe, and as Beaufighter’s written his post, it’s accurate in groups and contexts (rare, I know.) The contribution of numbers and recognition of the Commonwealth is another question.
As to the original question, I don’t know. Certainly the RAF Museum has a good display in the Bomber Command hall covering both the Commonwealth and allied contributions, and in the Battle of Britain hall, there certainly used to be a placard listing at least the Polish unit details; but it’s some time since I saw it, so can’t remember what was included or excluded. The Defiant was (very obviously) in Polish colours.

Outnumbering Australians, Canadians, Saffas, New Zealanders, Indians and other Commonwealth?
