Bristol IPC's

Does anyone know where I may be able to get a hold of a Bristol IPC particularly for the Beaufighter? As mentioned I have been fortunate enough to read thru a Beaufort IPC and it is a massive help when working out what is what. Would dearly love to get my hands on the Beaufighter one – though for some reason, like the tech drawings, it seems to be an invisible beast 🙁

I know places like Hendon may have it but am unable to get in there to have a look (unless I book a flight from Melbourne!)

Many thanks…

Thanks everyone 🙂

Beaufighter VI – I will try Hendon again and see what happens. There certainly must have been ones issued (and to confuse it all some of the NAA archives switch between describing the DAP21 and BD43A, and the cockpit layouts are different too – both Australian though) Moorabbin certainly does not appear to have it as that’s where the Beaufort one is. Will try the Narellan museum again, but they were not sure where anything was when I last contacted them. Same with HARS…. and I did try and get plans etc under FOI but was told they were probably in deep storage somewhere and no-one knew 😡

aircraftclocks – thanks for the links. I have the panel layout files (in fact I have the large image of the layout on order) but the other one I had not seen. Thats a start and thats what counts.

This is not an IPB for the aircraft but you will find assembly numbers etc referred to which may help you.

If you can get your hands on, AAP428, Volume 8 – Equipment establishment table covering maintenance spares for Beaufighter aircraft, this may be of interest to you as well.

Ask Hendon if they have it on fiche.
The Parts Manual was also issued in Oz for the Australian built Beaufighters, you need to ask for it under its Oz designation, BD43A.
Have you tried the War Memorial, the guys at Moorabin, the late Harold Thomas’s museum at Narellan and also HARS?

Thanks for that aircraftclocks.

Unfortunately every one of the manuals listed around the internet of the AP1721 A, F & J only contain volume one 🙁 I have a copy already, and the volume that lists the schedule of spare parts according to the tree diagram in this manual is Volume 3. This will be the one I am chasing…

Volume one contains very few actual numbers – some good pics though ! The Beaufort one was phenomenal as it had detailed photos of items at end of each section with a cross referenced page number and part number which then in turn had descriptions etc etc. Massive book, nearly two feet across and a couple of inches thick, leather bound with leather strap tie.
