100HP Gnome

Hi Guys,
I have been asked to assist in the building of a Sopwith Schneider replica or more importantly the 100HP Gnome that powered this aircraft. Whilst I have various documents relating to this engine what I would like is to view one to get a better grasp of the task ahead. I am asking the forum members for all and any information as to where best see this venerable piece of engineering. I am based in Gosport Hampshire so anything fairly close would be an advantage.
Cheers, Ollie

I recall seeing one at Solent Sky. According to their website it is an 80hp.

To be honests Ollie, if its gona be hung up in a shoping mall then info you can get from Pics off the net are going to be quite good enough for a Facimile that will look the part. As long as you have the diameter you should be able to work the rest out. Best off luck.

Brooklands have a large collection of engines.
But I am not sure about a specific Gnome type.

100 HP Gnome

Hi Andy, at present this will be a facsimile. This will however be driving an original propeller rotated at a slow speed by an electric motor. Weight might also be an issue in it’s construction as it is intended to suspend the replica from the roof of a shopping Mall.

Are you planning to build a working gnome rotary.
Or a facsimile..?
Or are have you one to restore..?
You don’t make it clear.
