Now an “appeal” to anyone with WWI knowledge AND living in Sussex . . . !!
In early 1917, 78 HD Sqn moved to a new HQ at Hove – however the actual flights remained elsewhere across South East England
Despite a fatal mid air collision over the town on 22/5/17 (see previous post)
I am not aware of any airfield in the Hove area. The aircraft involved were believed to be operating from Telscombe Cliffs at the time . . .
I “suspect” that like our previous HQ (in Kent) this second location in Hove was possibly a large country house / town house
Can anyone with “local” knowledge shed any further light on this puzzle?
78(HD) Sqn moved in the September of 1917 to Suttons Farm, Essex
Thanks in advance for any co-operation
Kind Rgds
