Displayed at the Warplane Wreck Museum at Fort Perch, New Brighton, Wirral is this large wheel and tyre. It was recovered from the Beach at or near to Pwllheli in North Wales many years ago. Some suggested that it was from the Stirling which ditched off Barmouth, remained afloat and was later towed to Pwllheli for scrapping. It was obviously way too small and, apart from that, bevelled or whatever the correct term is, so that argument was soon quashed.
Catalina SM706 “Guba” is said to have been scuttled off Pwllheli in August 1945 after retirement to Saunders-Roe at Beaumaris for the testing of new types of offshore mooring equipment. It is possible that this wheel was part of the double wheeled beaching units used for Catalinas. Alternatively, it may have no aeronautical connections whatsoever. I would appreciate any comments and opinions.

Ther was B.17 turret control on eBay not so long ago, and we have a turret cupola to fit it. Thing is, to put it back on WR963 we’d lose the galley and I think that would cause a small riot..

Many thanks for your replies and concurrences. The owner is now a happy man.
Then he showed me his Lanc tail wheel assembly complete with almost pristine tyre. And then his B 17 (as in Bristol) turret firing control, etc, etc.

Mossie tailwheel tyre (anti-shimmy type) very similar to Vampire nosewheel, though I also “concur” with it being Mossie.

I concur (always wanted to say that !)
AH is on Mosquito AP, Mastrand tyre size matches and Kelsey of Canada is a known supplier of Mosquito tail & mainwheel castings.

Well the assy no. looks like the AH number on this old ebay listed Mosquito wheel? Perhaps the photos will help identify it better?
Also Spitfire Spares have a listing showing more shots? Scroll down for the Mosquito one:
