15 May 1940  Wednesday “Dutch Army capitulated. Barbara brought my book on East Anglia, went to play tennis with her.”

16 May 1940 Thursday “Went to Irene’s, she was to be evacuated on Saturday, Queen Wilhemina broadcast.”
